Club Ratings

Come to this page to see our latest Club Ratings. Our Club Rating system involves multi dimensional system using publicly available information to produce a score. Clubs can also purchase a deeper review to see if their score improves (this is not always a guarantee). If you are a club interested in performing an upgraded review please visit our store.

As expressed by the stars in our logo, there are five main areas of review. Here is a breakdown of our ratings and what they mean (we use club, organization and association interchangeably):

Communication: Is the sport club available for discussions and connection. Do they have mechanisms in place for members to contact representatives. Can do they have ratings on public web sites with responses (such as Google or Facebook).

Governance: Does the sport club have open and transparent governance practices? Is there a Board of Directors? Are there policies and processes posted on the web site that reduce conflict of interest, or harassment? Does the organization have governance practices that members can review?

Financial: Organizations with strong governance practices tend to be transparent and offer access to financial information of the organization. This can be through audited statements, management statements and operating budgets. These are typically available in many different formats, but they are available in some way for members to review.

Quality Sport: The idea of quality sport has been long defined and supported by the Sport for Life Society, Sport Canada, and others, along with several other funding institutions (such as Jumpstart and the Ontario Trillium Foundation). In this category SportConnectors is looking for some indication of quality sport, multiple levels or adaptions to play or join the sport club.

Safe Sport: Important to a quality sport experience is the implementation of policies and practices that reflect a safe and open environment. The sport club should have polices in [place that protect all participants such as the two deep rule or minimum coach requirements.

These categories combine to deliver a score out of 100. The higher the score the more likely (not guarantied) that the club is implementing quality, transparent and safe sport experiences for you and your family.
